O método que pretendemos experimentar neste Festival Urbano desenvolve-se em duas fases. O primeiro, de 23 a 27 de Maio, procura combinar momentos práticos, orientados em formato de workshop, com momentos de apresentação e discussão teórica. O workshop, formado por 6 grupos de 8 participantes cada, será orientado por arquitectos, artistas e sociólogos, tendo por objectivo a criação de 6 abordagens distintas a um contexto urbano comum. Inicialmente será promovida uma aproximação ao lugar, que se traduzirá em percursos de reconhecimento do ambiente e da materialidade do espaço público e em discussões colectivas in situ. Posteriormente, e reflectindo as opiniões que fomos recolhendo ao longo dos últimos meses, pretendemos abordar as possibilidades de transformação urbana, desenvolvendo projectos que procurem abordar os problemas mais pertinentes.

Procurando descobrir e expôr o potencial activo da zona de Campanhã, em conjunto com os habitantes locais, pretendemos dinamizar a zona e reavivar a opinião pública sobre o espaço urbano, incentivando a participação activa de todos na sua transformação. Paralelamente, iniciamos um ciclo de conferências com o lançamento do festival na noite de 23, onde pretendemos reunir instalações, performances e concertos. As conferências terão lugar nas noites de 24, 25 e 26, procurando um equilíbrio entre momentos de apresentação e debate. Reunindo um painel de intervenientes que representa diversas abordagens à problemática do espaço público, pretende incidir não só em apresentações de projectos desenvolvidos por cada um, mas também na discussão colectiva de métodos e ferramentas, motivações e prioridades no processo de projecto. A título de encerramento, pretendemos fazer uma apresentação pública dos resultados e discutir colectivamente o potencial activo e real das soluções encontradas. Numa segunda fase, a realizar em Julho, pretendemos eleger um projecto desenvolvido em workshop, e executá-lo no período de uma semana.

Dédalo’s Urban Festival will take place in two stages. The first, between 23rd and 27th of May, seeks to combine workshops with presentations and theoretical debates. The workshop, with 6 groups of 8 participants each, will be guided by architects, artists and sociologists, with the aim of creating 6 different approaches to a common urban context. Initially it will be promoted an approach to the place, through itineraries of recognition of the environment and materiality of the public space, and collective debates in situ. Afterwards, and with the opinions we have been collecting over the last months in mind, we will discuss the possibilities of urban transformation, by developing projects that seek to address the issues that are most pertinent.

By learning and exposing the active potential of Campanhã, we intend to dynamize the area, sideways with the citizens, and renew the public opinion about urban space, encouraging everyone to actively contribute to its transformation. At the same time, we begin a cycle of conferences with the launch of the festival on May 23rd, with installations, performances and concerts. The conferences will be held on the 24th, 25th and 26th, balancing between presentations and debates. By assembling a panel of speakers representing different approaches to the discussion of public space, it intends to focus not only on the presentation of projects developed by each one, but also on the collective debate of methods and tools, motivations and priorities in the process of project. For the closing, it will be held a public presentation of the results and a collective debate about the action and real potential of the solutions. In the second stage, to be developed in July, we will choose a project developed in the workshop and execute it in one week.
